strained lower back

Postby just janie » Sat May 19, 2007 5:11 am

I am desperate for help.
I work in a warehouse and have recently strained my lower back by lifting a heavy box.
I have been having physio and seeing my doctor but i'm still having heaps of trouble. i have had a week off work and have been doing all the stretches etc that i've been told to do. The slightest of things like putting on my undies can stain my back again. It feels like something is tearing. They haven't sent me for xrays or any tests. I'm really worried.
What do you think? Does this sound serious to you?
Is there a way to fast track my recovery?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Janie,

I wish there was a way to "fast track" recovery from a back injury, but I'm afraid that just isn't possible. I would recommend getting Dean's book called, Rebuild Your Back and following his advice to make sure you heal in the shortest possible time, but it isn't a magic formula or instant cure. Anyone who promises you that is not telling you the truth.

Generally speaking, you're looking at approximately a week to 2 weeks to recover providing you don't continue to re-injure it. To help you understand what happened and why you might want to read Dean's article
Blueprint for a Bad Back.

It outlines the typical scenario for most people.
