Hi gang,

Did anyone else see Oprah a couple of weeks ago where there was a man who was taking his 9 year old son to a Chiropractor once a week? I was so disgusted I wanted to reach in the TV and shake some sense into the guy.

My wife records the show on the VCR and then we watch it later so I don't know exactly what day the show was on.

Hi Carl,

Yeah, I saw it too, makes you wonder how people could be so stupid. Then I have to remind myself that I was that stupid once too.

Sure glad I know better now.

I like the part where he says he took the kid to the chiropractor because of an injury and a couple of days later the kid was better. Never dawned on him that he probably would have gotten better anyway with or without the knuckle cracking.

Yeah, that was a classic. Pain goes away like it always does. Chiropractor takes the credit despite the fact that he didn't do anything except give the kid a backrub and make a few noises.

You have to hand it to the chiro's, it's the slickest fraud scheme ever invented.

Hi guys,

Don't forget acupuncture. That one has lasted over 5000 years!

Sad part is that kid will need back surgery before he's 16.

Probably be able to spend his high school and college career in the hospital with a series of failed back surgeries.

By that time they'll have the artificial discs perfected. So no worries. He can just get a whole new set. 8)

no i didnt see that episode.
i was one who was sucked in temoprarily to taking my kids in for adjustments ( they are 6 and 2). i know, absurd. but at the time i didnt know any better. thankfully i do now and they will never see a chiro again unless it's an emergency, even then, i'll be very very picky.
i had no idea how "evil" and unnecessary it is to take little ones. fortunately i was able to not totally give into all he told me. my chiro told me to not take them to the dr. to not get vaccines, etc. at one point my daughter (6) was having breathin probs, so was i; problems 'getting a deep breath'. anyway, i was taking her to the dr. and my chiro and i got into an argument over whether or not to do that. he said, "oh, the dr will just put her on meds, blah blah blah, and that will only be putting toxins into her body making her worse not better."
i still took her to the dr. we have an awesome pediatrician!! she found nothing wrong with my daughter. eventually the breathing came around (for both of us) surprisingly after we stopped going to the chiro. so who knows. all i know now, no chiro for me probably ever again; definitely not for my kids at least until they are adults and can decide for themselves. as parents we gotta be advocates for our kids and if we are unsure about something, ask and research. i wish i had learned all this before going to the chiro. but thankfully, things turned out pretty ok.
