On 8/6/2011 I had L5, S1 removal of Herniated Disc, where the S1 Nerve Root was "markedly swollen and tensely humped up." Ever since then I have been still experiencing occasional lower back ache, occasional pain aroud my calf, foot, anlke, AND moderate to severe pain behind my knee. My job calls for me to be on my feet most of the and and do a lot of walking. The pain subsibes when I am at rest but when I walk and try to flex my leg FULLY, it hurts. I seem to have a lot of Sciatica symtoms, but I had thought this would go away afer surgrey. Also, up buntil 3 weeks ago I was ale to tie my shoes by bringing my foot and leg off the ground towards me, now I can't. At night, after a hot bath, I can, but not in the morning. I walk with a limp most of the time. I am very DISCOURAGED AND DOWN. I thought I would have seen more improvement, but I'm not. My Neurosurgeon says time is a big factor, and it takes a long time for nerves to heal. May
be so, but I don't feel any noticeable improvement. I am reaching out to anyone who can give me some input on my situation Thank you in advance.
