stenosis and sciatica

Post by nervyguy » Sun Mar 27, 2011 6:46 pm

I am a 58 year old man with stenosis of L3/L4 that my orthopedic doctor characterizes as severe. I also have sciatica which causes a sharp stabbing pain in my left buttock as well as a dull pain in both legs when I walk. Long story short, I discovered this website yesterday and "purchased" the RYB book as well as the Pain book. My doctor is a well respected orthopedic guy who wants me to do core strengthening exercises but is a little vague about exactly how to do it so I was primed for your approach (although I am very new to the whole spinal decompression thing and the disc regeneration thing). I could go on and on here but apparently this little box that I am typing in restricts the length of my post (bummer). I have never done this before. I would be interested in hearing from folks who have stenosis because most of the basic exercises in the RYB book involve bending backwards (ouch!) or aggravating the sciatica (major "zingers" down the left leg!). Should I stick with this in spite of the pain? HELP!
