Thanks for your response. I just had a Sealy "Astoria" mattress delivered last week to replace my old pillow top sag-o-matic. The store I bought it from declared my last mattress defective due to the amount of sag, so they replaced it for FREE! I think I'm really going to like this new mattress. It ...

I think a lot of people are having problems posting to this forum. I know I keep getting an error message whenever I try to post a new topic. It seems if you log off, then log back in, the message will sometimes appear. About those pushups....I tried doing a few yesterday after warming up with the c...

Ok...assuming the total lack of response to my question, I guess no one on this forum has tried Hindu pushups. I've done a little surfing, and these types of pushups are included in a three stage workout that includes squats and bridges. The bridges look a bit intimidating, but I can see how there w...

Hey Smitty, After 5 weeks, I've recovered to the point where I'm walking about 1.5 hours a day, doing stretching and mobility exercises for another hour...no running yet. My foot drop has been coming along much faster than expected, but it's still a problem, so until it goes away, I won't be pushing...

Hey Smitty, Speaking as a guy that was used to working out six days a week (3 long runs, 3 sessions of weight training) I highly recommend you begin to incorporate a regular stretching routine...I don't think I can emphasize enough how important it is to keep your lower back and legs limber. I was g...

Hindu pushups

Wondering if anyone has tried Hindu pushups as part of their exercise routine once their initial symptoms have subsided. I realize this would be a rather advanced strength move, but it seems to incorporate a nice cobra stretch with a good core strength and upper body exercise.

Thanks for the reply Johnny. I was beginning to think my posts were being blacklisted for some reason.

I've tried to find the leg machine you mentioned on the net without luck. What is it exactly?

I'm happy to report I'm now able to do a full stage-two cobra...next up, stage three.

Memory foam/gel/latex mattresses

Has anyone had any positive/negative experiences regarding their back pain by switching to one of the Memory foam/gel/latex mattresses? If so, I'd love to hear about it. My wife and I are considering switching, but a kingsize costs $3000 +, so I want to make sure it's a good investment.

Using heat and cold.

Hey everyone, I'm into my third week of recovery from a severely herniated L5-S1 disc and the accompanying foot drop...things are progressing, albeit slower than I'd like. I've used an ice pack from time to time on my lower back, although I've been told by my family doc that the cold really won't pe...

It's funny how the idea of back pain, particularly when it's caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve, just doesn't compute with some people. For those that have never experienced it, it seems the consensus is they think you're either exaggerating or faking it when you talk about the pain you're in. ...

Hi Red, I've been a police officer for 20 years...15 of those were on patrol in uniform, and now I'm a plainclothes Detective. About 10 years ago, I had to have surgery and fusion to repair a badly herniated disc in my neck. I returned to duty about a month later, and it never really bothered me. On...

Thanks for your reply Tbone, and all the great advice. After speaking with the surgeon, he's advising me to NOT have surgery unless there's further deterioration of my foot drop..I'm seeing some very small improvements over the past couple days, and continue doing the exercises and stretches that do...

Cox Decompression Therapy

Hello everyone. New to the forum. Please forgive my multiple "test" posts...I kept getting an error message everytime I tried to post something. Is anyone out there familiar with the Cox Decrompression therapy? It's similar to the other "table-style" decrompression treatments. I've gone for a couple...
