Steroids...

Hey Everyone I too was put on a steroid pack. I took it for 6 days and the pain in my calf was definitely lessened. I too was told that this was a good sign that I would respond well to epidural injections. I had two epidural injections and I am now virtually pain free. I have been going to PT 3 tim...

Epidurals

Hi Friseandcat I too had two epidurals. My second was done on the 21st of September. I also noticed some difference in my right leg (good leg) after that one. However, that has passed, and the epidural has allowed me to be much more aggressive on my PT. I am going 3 days a week, and I am now virtual...

Tush Cush

Hi Sandy I too have the Tush Cush. I bought it to use in the car and at home when sitting for any extended period of time. It bothers me if I sit on it too long so I have put it in the closet for now. Maybe in the future it will come in handy again. I find that PT has helped me significantly to rega...

Epidural

Hey Friseandcat I too had the epidural injections. I actually had 2, the last one on the 21st. It took about 7 days for the effect to kick in on the 2nd one. I am feeling much better now and I am going to PT 3 days a week. It has helped me gain a lot of my motion which I lost with this bout of sciat...

Epidural

Hey Rupert All I know is that you can't take any anti-inflamatory meds for two days prior to the epidural. I also was not allowed to eat anything for 12 hours prior to the epidural. Beyond that, you are allowed to start PT immediately and even go back to work if you want. I will let you know how the...

Epidural

Hey Rupert

Glad to hear that you are getting the epidural. I hope that you get the same or better relief than I got out of my first one. I will undergo number 2 this Thursday. Let me know how you make out with it. When are you getting it done, and where???? Good luck.

Congratulations....

Hey Randolf Glad to hear of your report. Now my update. I started PT last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I was in so much pain initially after the first day of PT. Things are looking much brighter now. I am actually able to walk upright again, and I am able to sit much longer now. I am getting my ...

Hip Pain

Hey MJ Yes, hip pain is definitely a symptom of sciatica. In fact, that it where it bothered me most last year. This year it was in the calf and thigh, however, there is still some hip pain. The pain in the hip can be so unbearable sometimes that it feels like it is dislocated. I find that the pirif...

RYB

Hey Tomcat Yes I was doing the RYB stretches throughout. I am an avid golfer and that does not help. However, I was completely pain free from sciatica for approximately 9 months. This time however, it came back with a vengance. I couldn't do any of the stretches because of the pain in my leg and hip...

Question Rupert

Hey Rupert Was it your GP or was it a spine doctor that told you to not have the epidural? The reason I am asking is that after seeing my spine surgeon, he did tell me that the longer the inflammation is there the more our muscles become weak and the longer it is to rehab. All the epidural did for m...

Difference...

Hey Kevin Here is a description I found on a spine site. Hope it clears things up. Bulging is a lesser degree of disc herniation. You can think of a disc herniation in four stages: bulging, protrusion, extrusion, and sequestration. In the first two cases, the annular ring is intact, whereas in the l...

Know what you mean...

Hey Rupert Just a thought. Why not ask your doc to prescribe for you a steroid pack. It is a six day pack of steroids to help solve some of the imflammation. The reason that I am saying this is that if you get even mild results from this, you are a good candidate for an epidural injection. I had min...

Follow up on epidural

Well, got a call from my anest. this morning checking in on my progress. I told him that the results are about a 70 to 75% pain reduction. Told him that I am able to drive and walk better. He wants me to schedule another injection on the 21st of this month. He says that if the symptons continue to i...

Update...

Hey Randolf The Hydrocodone is not good for me either. I would recommend that everyone stay away from that stuff. Makes you depressed and for me gave me headaches. I now take a 5mg Valium at bedtime when needed for sleep. Valium is great in that there are no side effects for me. It makes you very re...
