Hi leftlegdan,

Some people get lucky and the sciatica symptoms clear up right away. For others it can take a long time. You didn't mention how long you've been doing the exercises, so that limits any advice I can give you. I just don't know how far along you are in the program.

DrWill, It's my understanding that false advertising is illegal in every state. According to the court, the manufacturer of the DRX-9000 (Axiom) created a false and misleading advertising campaign. Every DRX-9000 clinic that ran that false advertising campaign is as guilty of misleading the public a...

Hi Sandra, Many of us here have had great results following the physical therapy program in Dean's book, Rebuild Your Back . It's a pretty straightforward conditioning program that is surprisingly easy to do. Even the advanced exercises are not exactly strenuous. It worked wonders for me and I've re...

Hi eddie, Have you tried Dean's book, Rebuild Your Back ? It has a number of excellent exercises for correcting the problems you describe. I used it as have most of the people here. Read through the many posts and you'll get an idea of why I recommend it. Also, be sure to read: Taking the Mystery Ou...

Hi astro8, The back book should help with your lower back problem, but you've got me on the weird rib pain. I'm pretty sure the two aren't related. Symptoms of lower back pain are generally all from the waist down. Anything that occurs above the lumbar region would have to be caused by something els...

Hi Charles, I would go back to your neurologist since your residual symptoms are neurological. He would be able to perform tests to determine just exactly what your situation is. With sciatica, it's not uncommon for muscle weakness to linger for many months. Most people regain their strength over ti...

Hi Janie, I wish there was a way to "fast track" recovery from a back injury, but I'm afraid that just isn't possible. I would recommend getting Dean's book called, Rebuild Your Back and following his advice to make sure you heal in the shortest possible time, but it isn't a magic formula or instant...

Hi Katie, You might try the exercises in The Pain Relief Manual. Dean wrote it after writing the back and neck books for people who were having trouble doing even the basic exercises. I actually think it's his best book of the three, but it is mostly about joint pain. There is a section on chronic p...

Hi Sherry,

For what you're describing you'd want to get "Rebuild Your Neck". It covers the upper/mid back as well as the neck.

The lower back book is really only for lower back.

Keep us posted.

Joint Pain

Is the ankle pain a sharp pain or is it an achy burning pain like the sciatica? If it's a sharp pain, it may just be a normal joint injury (ligament, tendon, a little arthritis). If it's a sciatica symptom, it should go away once the nerve has a chance to heal. If not Dean's "Pain Relief Manual" has...

Hi brian,

Welcome to the group. Your situation sounds a lot like the scenario that Dean describes in his article: Blueprint for a Bad Back. Fortunately you're still young and the type of back problem you're dealing with is fairly easy to overcome.

Keep us posted on how you do rebuilding,

Hi MB, If the numbness has been long-term, then the nerve is still pinched or irritated and you will need to do something to relieve it before it will heal. The best solution is to rebuild the support structure of your back using a program like Dean recommends in his book, Rebuild Your Back . (See t...

Hi barb,

Read Dean's articles on back pain especially this one:

Blueprint for a Bad Back

Then get Dean's book, Rebuild Your Back and just take care of the problem.

You won't need the advil anymore because you won't keep injuring your back.

Hi MommyNeeds,

Sometimes sciatica can take a long time to resolve. My best advice would be to get Dean's book and try the RYB exercises. Reading the posts here in this forum can also be very helpful.

Hi Todd, Sciatica can be very frustrating. Some days you think you're making progress and then other days it seems like you're right back where you started from. What I did on the bad days was to fall back and just do the basic exercises for awhile until I started making progress again. Sometimes yo...
