Hi Meg, Welcome to the group. Sounds like you've read the discussion elsewhere on these pages on SI joint strain. I haven't paid too much attention to it since I haven't had to deal with that particular problem myself, but people seem to be improving. I haven't tried Bill P's exercise yet, but it so...

Hi Wess,

I'm pretty sure the popping sound in your knee is a separate issue. I don't think it has any affect on your back or pelvis unless it is painful and causing you to walk or stand crooked.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the two are related.

I hope the nerve block does the trick.

Let us know what you find out from the new doc.

Hi alicev,

As far as the transitianal vertabrae is concerned, your osteopath would be able to advise you about that. I seem to recall reading somewhere that they are normal. Some people have them and some people don't. I don't have one, so I didn't pay much attention.

Hi JJM, If the shifted cobra is working, I'd say keep doing it. I'd have to look in the book again, but I think you're supposed to do it until the pain moves and centers in the lower back. Then you can go back to the regular cobra. Doing the exercises two or three times a day should be sufficient. C...

Hi Bigbee, Welcome to the forum. Always glad to have new people. Would love to try and make a suggestion, but there's not enough information in your post to really answer your question. How long has this been going on? Have you seen a doctor? What did the doctor say? Was there an injury that you can...

Hi Chelsea,

Peripheral neuropathy can be caused by anything that damages, pinches or irritates a nerve... including spinal injuries, cancer, and various diseases.

Hi megreene,

That's really good news! Thanks for the update.

I think you're correct about physiatrists. I seems to be a fairly uncommon specialty. I had never heard of them until I found this website.

Keep us posted,

Hi jbels,

The book you would want to get is "Rebuild Your Neck". It deals with upper back and neck problems.

I can't say for certain whether the exercises will solve your particular problem or not. It's certainly worth a try.

If you do decide to try it, let us know what you find out.

Hi Siggy, Thanks for your expert opinion. By the way, at the bottom of this article: Herniated Discs Don't Require Surgery there is what we on planet Earth call a Bibliography. (It may have a different name in your solar system.) It is a list of scientific studies done over the last 20 years proving...

Hi Cookie,

I've only heard about Rolfing. So I can't comment on it.

Did you ever try it? What is it exactly and do you think it helped you?

It's been a couple of weeks since your last post. How is the rebuilding going? Are you seeing any improvement yet?

Hi Jakatak, It's easy to get overwhelmed if you focus on all your symptoms and the various diagnoses the doctors give you. Most of us here can relate to what you're going through. I like what Dean says in his Rebuild Your Back book, he say, "Forget the diagnosis trap." What he means by that is: You ...

Hi Dan,

I just answered your post over in the sciatica section where you mentioned that you are making progress on the basic exercises... so you don't need to do the shifted cobra. It is only for people who aren't making progress.

But you answer your question. Yes.

Hi Dan, If you can avoid the driving, you should. It's not going to help your nerve to be sitting for that long. Yes, the back support pillows and rolls are great. I no longer have back problems, but I have a back support pillow that I use whenever I have to travel in a car that doesn't have good lu...
