Sounds like you're doing it correctly.

I'm not a doctor, but from what I understand, the natural tendency of ligaments is to shorten and tighten. So it seems likely that hyper mobility would correct itself over time.

I see no one has answered your questions yet, so I'll try. Yes, the exercises in the book are for sciatica. As far as the broken pelvis, I don't know how that would affect your progress. Best thing to do would be to follow the advice of your doctor.

Some people with Sciatica find that they do better if they skip the forward bending exercises in the beginning. I believe krd found this to be true.

I feel the stretch more or less evenly all up and down my spine from my hips to my shoulders. My back has been fine for several years now, so I can't remember if it felt differently when I first started. I would think someone with an injury or other issue to deal with might feel it more in that area...

Did doing the exercise cause you pain? If not, then you have nothing to worry about. As long as you follow the instructions in the book you'll be fine.

I do some of the neck exercises two or three times a day just for maintenance. (I'm talking about the mobilization and flexibility exercises.) I seldom do the strengthening exercises anymore, but when I did them I only did them every other day.

I'm not sure if there is a way to stop the popping sound or not. Maybe someone else will know.

A problem with your hip could affect your lower back. It would be interesting to see if correcting the pelvic tilt changes the situation.

The numbness in your chest wouldn't be from the lower back. It would have to be caused by something else. I agree with B. Sounds like something to run by your doctor.
