Hi All I really didn't answer Cygnets question directly. Although it is a good question, i don't think there is one simple answer. I changed my exercise/physical therapy routine several times. I seemed to get better very slowly regardless of what i did. This was probably due to my exercises/stretchi...

Hi Cygnet i've been at this about 8 months. started with having severe back pain and no strength and cramping type pains in my left leg. i went to a spinal specialist (MD) that did an MRI and some test where they stick needles in your leg and back to measure the nerve damage. anyhow, he recommended ...

Breakthrough

Hi All i have changed what i have been doing and have been a lot better the past couple weeks. have started doing the cobra stretch every 2 - 3 hours, and really working on the form. takes about 5 minutes to do 10 reps, and i probably average about 60-70 reps a day. the pain went away enough to quit...

Hi Sal I'm not an expert, so can just tell you what has helped me. I didn't have any relief from the ice/heat. Maybe i didn't stick with it long enough. I have to lie down flat on my back and straight to minimize sciatica. Mine goes away most of the time after i lie down for a while and seems a lot ...

Hi Ricecracker, from what i've read, most people with sciatica are fine in a month or so. hope you fall in that category. since you don't have a history of back problems, you are probably better off than most of us here. based on my experience, i think it is important to take something to control in...

Slow Progress

Have been doing the basic exercises/stretches twice a day for about a month now. Have had sciatica for +/- 6 months and been through PT and IDD (disc decompression). Sciatica is getting better, but not moving as described in the RYB book. Progress is very slow. Am wondering if i should start doing s...

Hey Ken Did you stick with the exercises after your sciatica "bout" last year? the reason I am asking is that i am wondering what my chances are of the sciatica returning if i am religous about exercising twice a day from now on. I know all cases are different. I have a torn disc at L5/S1 and a smal...

Hi Kevin Makes sense that if your disc is 80% scar tissue it won't heal the same, but i'm not sure that means the exercises won't help. That is good news that your two herniations look good. I think that is what most of us here have, and is good to know the exercises can reduce or eliminate it long ...

Hi All I bought one of those sacro - wedgy's (didn't work for me), but the guy that sells them has an interesting theory. He says that back problems became much more prevalent with the onset of bucket seats. Bucket seats support the sides of your pelvis (and legs) with no support under the center. P...

is this piriformis????

Hi all - am new to the group and fairly new to this problem. looks like most folks give a little history, so here's mine. back pain started about 5 months ago, with fairly bad sciatica about 3 - 4 weeks later. saw a spinal specialist who got an MRI and refered me to PT for a month. the MRI shower a ...
