Randolph

Piriformis is right from Dean's Books or I lie down cross one leg over the other knee and then pull the knee of the leg that is touching the floor. Ham is lying on the back and then bring one knee up and then straighten that leg (out of the book). Then do the other leg. Then I go to one knee up and ...

Been Awhile

Hi everyone, Kevin here. been awhile. traveled and computer was down. Anyway, I kept up with the basics and the stretching for ham string and piriformis. When I over do it with a long work day or have driven a long distance I ice for ten minutes and heat for twenty, after stretching and before going...

Hey guys. I wish you all the best with your different experiences. I startd PT today. Back pain gone before I went but still get double sciatica if I sit for a long time. Exercises have changed as well as theories from sixteen years ago. It just reinforces that Dean is right on the mark with this st...

Ken, Thanks. That was a great analogy. I am still doing the basics and feel pretty good. Just drove to Boston and back today - 2 1/2 hours each way. Wore a brace on the way back for about an hour. Feels pretty good right now after doing the basics and will know more tomorrow when I wake up. Going to...

Tom and Rupert I am going to do the exercises until I absolutely have no choice but surgery and then will evaluate the best and newest methods out there. My other two discs were always called bulging. They were bulging in 1990 and 1999 with no further deterioration and now gone. I know ruptured is w...

MRI results

I received my MRI results today and it looks like L5/S1 is getting thin. The doc said it is wear and tear and the disc above it looks dry. L5/S1 is the disc that was operated on 16 years ago and is now supposed to be 80% scar tissue. The doc thinks from the MRI, that the disc (scar tissue) is thin a...

Doomed

That's great to hear. My MRI showed that my trouble is with the disc that I was operated on for which is now 80% scar tissue. It is apparently shrinking and I am getting bone on bone according to what the doc says. However, the previous two bulging discs that I had are apparently no longer herniated...

Hi Randolph, Hope it helps. I am experimenting with this and it seems to relieve pressure on the lower spine as the hip bones and very upper thighs seem to support the weight. I also find that if you lift your heals or close your legs it seems to increase the pressure on your spine so I keep them wi...

Sitting

I found that I can sit for about a half hour or so if I sit towards the edge of the chair and place my knees far apart with my feet (totally flat) under them. I don't get the feeling of compressing my spine and it is tantamount to a pelvic pinch. Once I actually had tingling, sat this way and it wen...

Dear not doomed

If you are in that much pain, you may want to at least get diagnosed so you know what you are up against. For instance, if it is a disc or sciatica problem, you will know, if it is a bone spur then that is different........ But until then certainly do the exercises........... In my case I am getting...

Thanks Ken

Ken, thanks. So an epidural just blocks the pain. What if your condition does not improve, will the pain come back? I had an MRI today and will get the results next week. Keep me posted. I am looking into Back RX and Dr McGill from the postings I have seen. Keep posting and I wish you the best. I ha...

Hams

Everyone is different and hams take a long time. I had a roto-cuff or somthing in my shoulder which caused be great pain to throw or hit a baseball, and which took ,I am guessing, over a year. But I tried not to over work it and began to stretch my shoulder and now it is gone. So, be patient and goo...
