Hello Clairembart (it's been 30 years since my college French classes - how is your name pronounced - Clah-raim-barr? Your English is a whole lot better than my French .. in fact your English is better than a lot of English we see around here) It's my limited understanding that "sciatica" is a gener...

Glad to read, Wess, that you got the competent input from your doctor. What med is giving you the side-effect of constipation? Yes, you've got it right ... pain is your stop sign - if it hurts to do a stretch or exercise, back off. Otherwise ... go for it. Dean recommends doing the basic RYB exercis...

Yes, Wess, one of the dysfunctions that can accompany other sciatica symptoms is loss of normal uninary and bowel control. In my case, I had great difficulty initiating urine flow and bowel evacuation for several weeks; bowel dysfunction improved greatly within a month, but regaining normal control ...

Hi B2B My copy of the latest Merck Manual (pg 329) says treatment for Stage I spondylolisthesis (such as you are suffering from) "is usually symptomatic, as for other causes of musculoskeletal low back pain" ... meaning (as best I can surmise) that the physical therapy you are trying now is a common...

Hi Mike Yes indeed! It's looks like you've been doing some good thinking and planning ... and that you've gotten approval from docs to try physical therapy to rehab from your injuries. I'm assuming the yoga exercises include Dean's basic exercises? Only thing I can think of to add would be to trade ...

Hi Wess You've given us a lot of info, so please help me unravel the time-line on the various events in your back's history. What was the initial back injury in the military, and when? What did docs do for you after that first injury? When did you have the MRI? What did docs think it revealed for re...

Hello Henry. This comes in response to your Sept27 post on Cygnet's thread, but seemed better to post on your thread, since it concerns how to continue healing from your injury and surgery. You ask a good, challenging question: what is the right amount of exercising to do, to get maximum healing in ...

Yes, John, you can get a preview ... if you don't mind doing some clicking and reading for a few hours. I can understand your reluctance to send money for a product, sight unseen. I didn't like the idea, either, before I sent my credit card numbers ... wish I had a better idea ... but the transactio...

If I was in your shoes, Paul, I'd visit my GP first and find out if there are any contra-indications to doing the PT recommended in Dean's books. There are some physical dysfunctions, that a competent general practitioner can recognize, that can cause your symptoms that need more than physical thera...

After I was injured (almost 2 yrs ago) by a well-meaning but ignorant DC, I explored the possibility of suing that chiropractor for the half a year of wages I lost, not being able to work. Stonewalls everywhere. Maybe things have changed for the better since then, but this is what I found. North Car...

Great to read of your continued progress, Ken! You've inspired me to make a 2 yr progress report later in the month (hopefully I can keep it shorter than book length  ). I'm making great progress in my back rebuilding project, too. But for now ... I'd also like to thank Dean for making the webs...

Yes, that IS really good news, Beet. Has your doctor recommended any activity before you start PT in Oct? Is experimenting with the basic RYB exercises contra-indicated? Any rest beyond that necessary to allow inflamed, tight or spasming muscles to return to near normal (so it doesn't hurt too much ...

Felecia Check out some of the comments on the DRX9000 on this site's forum; experience of others runs the gamut of ... it's wonderful ...to ... it's a complete waste of money. Any "doctor" who tells you, you "will never have anymore problems" is a quack ... pure and simple. One measure of a good doc...

Great post, Matt. What do I think? Three things come to mind. First: the same principle you've described so well (that lack of flexibility and strength causes the problems associated with some exercises, like free-weight squats), appears to be behind the problems with some chiropractic manipulation....
