Lower back pain and neck pain can usually be resolved with just a simple home treatment program. Studies show that sciatica, herniated discs, pinched nerves, leg pain and even whiplash don't require drugs, surgery or chiropractic spinal manipulation, while rebuilding has proven to provide permanent pain relief.

it is my undersatnding that disc herniations but nature are extremely rare in the eldery. The fluidity of the nucleous pulposa reduces with age, and therefore is unable to herniate in the elderly patient.
Fisure / tears in the anullus with provide symptoms of back pain due to the present nociceptors in the tissues and the irritation this causes is likely to cause radicular signs. but i believe the rate of disc herniation is very low.
