Memory foam/gel/latex mattresses

Postby Peter B » Thu Jun 12, 2008 4:23 pm

Has anyone had any positive/negative experiences regarding their back pain by switching to one of the Memory foam/gel/latex mattresses? If so, I'd love to hear about it. My wife and I are considering switching, but a kingsize costs $3000 +, so I want to make sure it's a good investment.

I have a sealy posturepedic memory foam mattress, I have a herniated L4-L5 disk, at the end of the day I have a good deal of pain, and I have to tell you that this mattress is wonderful. I wake up in the morning with little or no pain. When I sleep on a standard mattress I always wake up with discomfort.

It truly is worth the investment, but make sure you get your self a quality posturepedic mattress, there are lots of knock off's out there.

I'm not sure where you live but I'm in Miami and we have a burdines macys clearance center here and I was able to get a great deal. Look around before spending a large amount.

Hope this post helps, Good luck.

Thanks for your response. I just had a Sealy "Astoria" mattress delivered last week to replace my old pillow top sag-o-matic. The store I bought it from declared my last mattress defective due to the amount of sag, so they replaced it for FREE!

I think I'm really going to like this new mattress. It has a layer of memory foam on top, with coil support underneath. It's significantly more firm than my last mattress, but just feels right. The only concern I have is that it seems to be a little warm to sleep on. I think the memory foam retains body heat..but I can get used to that.
