Any know of anyone Getting Laser Surgery??

Postby Guest » Tue Apr 10, 2007 10:07 am

Every time I look up back or sciatica problems on the internet I keep coming across the website called the Laser Spine Institute. It's a place in Florida that specializes in shrinking a herniated/bulging disc using a minimally invasive laser surgery procedure. Sounds very interesting. Anyone have any feedback on it or heard of anyone getting a procedure like that?

not sure if it's the same stuff, but after all my drx treatments it was cold pack, then "low level laser" (cant' remember exact name) to help reduce inflammation and help speed up the metabolism of the cells in the surrounding tissue to help them heal and expunge fluids. (im not a doctor but this was the lay mens term description) Think back to bio 10 and the whole cellular process is apparently sped up with low level lasers. one "node" was supposed to go deeper into the tissue (although they did tell me that it was not possible for it to penetrate deep enough to the disc itself given how much tissue there is (on me!) in my lower back.....and one was larger area but not as deep.

I was under the impression though that it was less of a stand alone procedure, and more of component of the whole back rehabilitation to be combined with other types of treatment.

I was also told that the FDA banned low level laser in the US cause of some yahoos claiming it did miraculous healing feats in the 80's (where the truth was more like it really does help and produce results) but it's been used extensively and was never banned in Europe.
