fsm

I have been seeing a chiro for several years but a new one in the last year. I am not sure but think he may be the cause of the neck problems I am having now. c3 - c6 herniated disc per mri. Does anyone know if this could cause breathing, swallowing, nausea difficulty? He has prescribed fsm (frequency specific microcurrent) treatment. Do you know anything about fsm? I only know what material he gave me in his office. Didn't find much info when I looked on the web either, but I am not a big computer/web user. I have had 12 so far. the treatments did help my wrist (I do data entry and have carpal tunnel). I also had rsd (reflexive sympathic dystropy) in my legs from a car accident some 13 yrs ago that has been helped from physical therapy and massage, but my neck is a real source of concern. I just stumbled on to this site and have been reading all morning. I am really scared about the symptoms. I went to my family dr he said he thinks it is just gerd and wants to put me on meds for that along with anti-depressant meds and sleeping pills too. HELP! I don't think I need any of those things.

Hi Vicki!

I share your reluctance to take meds to suppress symptoms, and think that you are quite wise to pay attention to your intuitions that your DC and GP may not have your best interests in mind, and thus, investigate alternatives. There's nothing like facts and information to cure the fear that comes from not knowing what's going on!

You'll find a lot of good info available by clicking on Dean's "Resources" link on the homepage. Lots of info that indicates chiropractic manipulation of cervical vertebrae has some potential, fatal risks, that might be connected with your breathing, swallowing, nausea difficulties.

Regarding your carpal tunnel, you might want to check out Dean's neck and pain books, and also check out Dr. John Sarno's tension myositis syndrome diagnosis (TMS) for that condition, and possibly rsd.

In a perfect world, the information you need would not be so difficult to find and there wouldn't be anybody trying to take advantage of you during this difficult time in your life ... but for now ... not so. Lots of smiling, well-meaning sharks out there!!
