Anyone Not Getting Email Notifications?

Here's where you can discuss topics that don't exactly fit the above classifications.

Hi Ken,

I've got some email features turned off on the board at the moment ... that may be why you're not being notified.

I've been updating, modifying, tweaking, wrestling, cursing, loving and caressing the software lately ... and with the new anti-spam measures I've just installed ... I may be turning that feature back on in the near future.

(Edit: Actually I checked this morning and that feature is enabled. It's the same one that notifies you when your account is activated. So if you received an email when you registered... you should still receive emails for posts if you set your profile to do so. In other words, I don't know why your not getting those emails. I would be curious to know if anyone else is having the same problem.)

Ya just never know... :?

Thanks Dean! Hmmm? Nope, still not receiving email notifications. I just checked my profile again and I have the settings set to receive notifications. No big deal, but would be great to be notified.

BTW, what is the email address that sends the notifications? That way I will add it to my address book and filter to the inbox. It could be Yahoo thinks it's spam. I loosened my spam filters awhile back thinking that might be the case, but didn't see any notification emails though.

Hi Ken,

The "new post" notifications all come from the "webmaster (at) RYB" email address same as listed at the bottom of this page.

It's possible they are being mistaken for spam, as you mentioned.

I know the software is sending emails because I get notifications from the forum for various administrative functions.

Anyone else not getting notified when someone answers your post? (Providing, of course, you've set your profile to notify you.)

Let me know by posting here,

Dean, any possibility that all this computer tweaking you've been doing lately can account for the difficulty I've had several times the last week submitting posts? The times this happened, I was logged in as usual, and would periodically preview what I'd typed, and after 10 or 15 minutes of this, clicking on the preview would eventually dump me back onto the home page, and your picture had one of those red X's on it. So I'd get back to my unsubmitted post, try and submit it, and got an error message, that what I'd typed couldn't be submitted/posted. :( :x

Yeah, it's possible. I'm all through tweaking for now, so if you still have problems let me know.

One thing I do when posting to forums like this is to copy and paste what I've just written into Notepad before I hit "submit." That way, if there's a glitch and my brilliant prose gets dumped into the twilight zone, I can always copy and paste it back in and try again.

Another thing I do (which I think we talked about before) is copy the post I'm going to answer to Notepad and then compose my answer offline. Then I just post it the next time I log in.

In fact, as I was writing this my ISP dropped the connection and I had to dial back in to finish this.

Broadband??? Are you kidding? This is the Ozarks... we're still waiting on indoor plumbing.
