I have given up trying to solve this on my own. My wife found a great physical therapist who helped her with her neck problem. I have had so many relapses since starting this adventure that I decided to give her a try. So far I have gone twice and I am very hopeful. She has helped me correct my pelvic tilt in both sessions and I can tell a difference in the way I move after the session. Unfortunately, but also expectedly, the tilt returns after a period of time. But the good news is that by doing the cobra exercises, I can determine if I am out of alignment. Then, she gave me a sequence of exercises to do to get back into alignment and then some strengthening and flexibility to assist.
I notice a difference in the hamstring exercises when I am out of alignment. I hurts or at best feels uncomfortable, but when I am aligned, it feels like a good stretch. The same thing is true with the cobras. I feel like I just can't get past a certain point, and I feel a restricting pain right on the sacral bone when I am misaligned, but when in alignment I can go up without that restricting pain. This woman really knows her stuff, and I am going to stick with her.
The final part is the lift in my shoe which I wear all the time. It seems to help my leg length discrepancy which is a good 1/4 inch. No wonder I can't seem to get over the hump...I have been standing in a hole since 1990. Several hockey seasons, pickup b-ball seasons, tennis tournaments, and a marathon later, my back finally said, "enough". Again, I am hopeful which is certainly better than the constant nagging depression and obsession. Finally, I believe that I am on the long road back. And, if you were to give me 2010, back pain gone, I'd take it in a heart beat. I am taking this one slow and I am going to beat it!
