Pelvic Tilt

Hi,

I have followed Dean´s instructions in how to determine the tilt of my pelvis and it feels like it´s tilting forward. Doing the pelvis pinching feels good and thats a sign also I guess.

Now my questions :

1. I can´t seem to do the cobra exercise since this causes more forward tilt on my pelvis and it´s not feeling good. Are you suppose to align the pelvis before you start with the healing part?

2. My hamstrings are really tight, aren´t they suppose to correct a forward tilt then?

Best Regards,
Sven

I have really tight everything including hams and have only just started.
We are all different and i have never been suple .
If like me you sit a lot, drive a lot and sleep in the fetal position your body will not like the cobra mine certainly doesn't.
Its hardly surprising though as I have spent years not bending in that direction mainly because it was never comfortable or natural for me but these exercises are intended to change your conditioned position and if like me it all feels wrong then thats natural and you will just need to take it real slow.I am taking it very slow as I have over stretched in the past and it just puts you way back.
I have been using the start position for prolonged periods instead of the couch.TV is it a bit wierd but it is definatly helping me adjust to what has previously been a totaly alien position.

Start position and TV what is that?

Can it be that my body has adjusted so well to a forward tilted pelvis that I might be worse until I get used to a more backwards tilted one?

I have a hard time keeping my front thighs and hip stretched for longer periods. After I stretch I feel better but then again the next day I´m always back to theese tight muscles. Anyone with the same problem? Am I doing my stretches the wrong way? I try to stretch them for 30 seconds and 3 times/leg.

Hi Sven,

I think what B2B meant by TV was that he does the exercise while watching TV. I could be wrong, but that's what I do so it made sense to me.

On correcting the pelvic tilt, I think there are two factors involved. One is doing the exercises and the second is just being aware of when you're slouching and just doing the pinch to straighten yourself up. Over time it gets easier to maintain as you retrain the muscles involved.
