osteopenia

I am a new poster and recently read Dean's book. According to my bone density, I am very close to having osteoporosis. From what I have read in other books on this subject, bending forward exercises or sit-ups should be avoided by people with osteoporosis. I really need to rebuild my back as I have injured it several times recently, but do not want to take any unnecessary chances of causing a fracture. Does anyone have suggestions for a exercise routine taking osteopenia into consideration? Thanks, Suze

Hi Suze,

I don't think you'll have any problem doing the RYB exercises. They're pretty low impact. However, just to be on the safe side, it would be a good idea to show the book to your doctor and see if he believes it is a safe program for your situation.

I'm pretty confident that he'll give you the go ahead.

Suze,

There are two things that you need to focus on in order to have your bone density improve. One is to order alkaline ph sticks; they are ph test strips. By testing your saliva or urine, you will be able to determine the ph of your blood and other tissue. The reason being, our bodies operate best when the ph within our bodies is slightly alkaline - a ph of 7.0 - 7.3. If the blood becomes overly acidic, the body begins to dissolve the calcium and magnesium from the bones in an effort to help alkalize the blood and bring it closer to a baseline of 7.0.

Neutral, or baseline is 7.0; as the number drops lower, the solution is more acidic. Conversly, the higher the number above 7.0, the more alkaline the solution. The phone number to order ph test strips (they come in 80 per container) is (888)744-8589. There are quite a number of places to purchase them on the internet. The test is fast, easy and takes less than a minute to take your blood ph. The ph of your blood is identical to the ph of your saliva (provided you haven't eaten or had anything to drink for several hours).

Two, find out whether your drinking water is fluorinated. Studies have shown that there is an increased rate of hip fractures in areas that have higher amounts of fluoride in the drinking water. As the amounts of flouride in drinking water go up between 2.6-3.4 ppm, hip fractures in these areas nearly doubled as compared to areas where the fluoride content in the drinking water was only 1.0ppm. Places with fluoride levels in the water between 4.3-8.0ppm had even higher rates of hip fractures.

One other point of interest, when your body is in a slightly alkaline state, it is hard for cancer to gain a foothold.
