We have a pillow top mattress too. I very nice Sterns and Foster that we bought a year ago. I moved out of that room to a much firmer mattress in one of the guest bedrooms. I feel it has made a huge difference. What a waste of money on the pillow top. I think we may end up buying one of those sleep number beds so I can firm my side up and my wife can keep here soft side. Anyone else use one of these type of beds??? Are they worth it???

Hi--
When I had bad sciatica I moved to my yoga matt on the floor. Slept there for about a week before venturing into a bed again.

During the first horrible months of my sciatica, I slept, uncomfortably at best, only on my back, on the thinly-carpetted floor. Almost two years later, I can now sleep (very well, thank you) on stomach, back, or sides, on a very firm mattress. Soft definitely doesn't work for me.

Regarding the sleep number bed. Don't know anyone who has one. My experience with anything heavily advertised (like this product) is that it's the expensvie version, and with a bit of shopping, you'll find something just as good, much cheaper because there's no national advertising campaign to pay for.
