patella femoral pain associated with back pain???

Postby sj_altman » Mon Jan 29, 2007 11:37 pm

Hi All. I am wondering: Has anyone experienced pain in the kneecap (which the doctors refer to as patella femoral pain syndrome)--if so, what is your experience? I am wondering if is the result of my herniated disc from my back b/c it happened 5 ms. after it and I never had any problems before. It is very painful and i'm hoping it will heal once my back does. In any case it is most painful when going up or down hills, or doing stairs. thanks and happy healing.....

Hi sj,

I was hoping someone with a similar experience would answer your post, but we're a pretty small group. Unusual answers sometimes are difficult to come by.

I have not heard anyone mention kneecap pain in relation to sciatica... but then I tend to ignore symptoms. (I leave the diagnosis up to the doctors.)

I suspect that your knee problem is a separate issue. Best bet is to ask your doctor.
