Hello all...
Newbie here...I have been devastated these past 2 months...found out I had piriformis, sciatica and God knows what else!! One day sitting at comp, next day bent over in excruciating pain!! Did Imention I also have fibromyalgia??!! Anyway, NO WAY was this the normal fibro. Went to a natural clinic where they offer "almost" a 100% curative rate with sciatica with the help of something called "Prolotherapy"...((Injections in site of pain))......they inject you about 30 times with natural solution of saline, cod liver and xylacain i think....anyway, you have to do this 4 to 6 times in order to be effective....after doing this twice, i just couldn't bare it again.....that was 6 weeksago...i had mri, emg and a bone scan/....all tests are normal....but hello???I STILL have pain!!! I go to PT 2 or 3 times a week. I can't lie on back because legs and butt go numb...can't lie on sides...the ache is "DEEP" in the bone and also rectom!! Does ANYONE have these symptoms?? Thinking of surgery. I read about 2 or 3 places in Florida who do Laser surgery....It's all done in an hour and only sedated mildly. Surgery is only a fouth of an inch incision....This has effected my whole life and families life. I use muscle relaxers more then the norm. I am at witts end, depressed and rather check out most times. Only 48 but feel 1008!! I tried to get Deans book, but it wouldn't go thru. I'm not much about computer stuff..........Can it REALLY help me?? My GP said, first therapy, then epidurals then surgery....I'm like....no!!! Can you tell I have no patience?? Also starting on anti-depressants at end of week. Can't even do laundry, groceries etc...forget about sex!! Everything hurts!! Has ANYONE had rectal spasms??? Is this normal ??
(((((sigh)))))).............Was considering a chiro for the fibro!!!

Hi maxsy1 ,

Sounds like you have unfortunately got a "Hamburger with the Lot" there :(

I think we have all gone thru the pain , depression , loss of the ability to do normal things etc like you have mentioned , So you are not alone and these things seem to be very common .

Often CT / MRI scans show nothing out of place with back pain suffers but show things out of place on people who have NO back pain :?:

I don't blame you for not being in a hurry to have surgery done , I'd say that would be a very last resort ( I "Think" most people in this forum would agree ? )

About Deans book , The first thing I got from it was just how positive it is written , reading it is great as Dean really gives you a lot of good information that certainly in my case lifted my spirits up out of the gloom .

The second area is the excercises , They are simple to do , explained CLEARLY and certainly have positive effects .

The key to it is to keep on doing them ( which is the area I fall down in  )

If you E-mail Dean at webmaster(at)rebuildyourback(dot)com and explain that you were unable to download the Ebook , I'm sure he will give you the Internet link to download it from .

I personally think you will get a lot out of reading it 8)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the kind words Mark.

Just want to warn people about listing email addresses in the forum. The Spam bots are on the prowl and are voracious. It's better to code them as I did above... and be sure an turn off your address in your profile... unless you want Spam, of course.

I'm going to do an article about Prolotherapy one of these days... for now suffice it to say that I wouldn't undergo that procedure in a million years. They are intentionally scarring your ligaments with that so-called "natural" chemical which will only leave you stiffer and more prone to future injury. It is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard of ... right up there with spinal fusion.

It is a real travesty that quacks can totally hoodwink people just by misusing the word "natural" to describe their products or procedures. Being eaten by a lyon is natural... that doesn't make it a good idea.

In closing, yes, if anyone has trouble downloading the book, just drop me an email. If you can't get Paypal to take your card, it's usually because you've mistyped your information... such as putting spaces in your card number... an easy mistake.

Dean

Hi Dean ,

Hmm sorry about the Email address - I should know better than that

I also wondered about the "natural" treatment since xylacain was part of the injection , I'm sure that is a Drug ?

Updated I think it is actually called Xylocaine which is a Topical anesthetic that deadens the nerve endings in the skin , So it's not really natural

Hopefully maxsy1 will get your book and get some good benefits out of it .

Sounds like she is having a rough time at present

Thank you

THANK YOU for replying...
I can't change what has ALREADY and UNFORTUNATELY been done....BUT....I just hope it gets better!!! ((Lord I pray))....
Just hearing the kindness of others is uplifting....((even if only for a few minutes)).....I hope DEANS book can help me...........
Can it make a "bulge" go back in place??? Help heal the nerve endings?? I DEFINATELY think the prolo made "bulge" worse or he hit some nerves...something HAS to show up somewhere!! If it is the ligaments.....do they heal??? HOW LONG????? (((sigh)))......It's been 2 months now. I woke up to numbness in my baby toe and tingling...So,
is there a surgery out there that can fix this?????My sister -n-law said her neighbor had his bulge or disk "sucked" out and a week later doing yard work!!! What's that mean??? OMG....2 months in therapy and no better....just keep having pain and spasms.............NO DRUG HELPS!!!
 .............((sorry)).........................maxsy1.....I could even feel the bulge in my L5-S1.....................right at the crack ob butt!!!

No need to apologize, Maxsy1. Like Mark said, we know what you're going thru because we are in various stages of recovering from the pain; and we really want you to know that the horrible pain will most likely pass There is a lot of hope for you. A lot of us keep coming back here because RYB has worked for us, and while we can't guarantee it will work for you, you certainly won't lose anything by giving it a try, especiallly since your doctors have eliminated your having problems that would prevent your doing the RYB PT (I'm assuming the doctors didn't consider the rectal pains indicative of cauda equina)

The theory behind prolotherapy sounded interesting to me, too, a few months ago. Hadn't read of harmful side-effects until reading Dean's comments above. That's the problem with theories presented in advertising: always sound good ... but never tell the whole story. Sorry to see you had to find out the hard way. It sounds like the prolotherapy didn't make things worse, though, is that right??

Surgery is a quick fix that works for some, and not for some. It's hard to get reliable figures of how many are really helped, and how often the operations fail. The problem with surgery is that after the surgery, most folks go right back to abusing their back the same way they did that caused the first problems (like sitting for long periods of time without exercise/stretching breaks), and then require more surgery. And there are scientific studies that indicate that long term, well-done PT is just as effective as surgery .. and certainly cheaper.

Epidurals don't heal anything; they simply reduce the pain (which is certainly nice). But healing (without surgery) from sciatica requires exercising/stretching and learning to do the activities of life without re-injuring the sciatic nerve.

I hope you've been able to read Dean's books by now. I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised at how effective doing even the beginning RYB exercises will be for you. It feels like the end of the world right now. But it isn't.

Please keep coming back here, reading Dean's material, and reading the success stories and experiences of others who have bounced back from this scourge. There's lots of good things to learn and do here. Good luck!!
